As experts in the field, we at Adafruit are always seeking innovative and unique sources of light. These 'chip on board' ultra-flexible white LED Strips with 320 SMT LEDs per meter caught our attention, as they are closely arranged and covered in a thin layer of silicone epoxy. They have a similar appearance to neon or incandescent tubing, or even high-quality EL wire, but without the costs associated with transformers, glass, or inert gasses. The strip measures only 5mm in width, while the casing can easily be removed, measuring 8mm in width.
These lights offer a continuous, natural white light source that is ultra flexible. Unlike the chunky, diffused look of 'Neon' tubing, this strip is much thinner and has a thin silicone cover. This design choice allows for hot spots between the 320 LEDs per meter to be visible up close.
The silicone casing provides durable, weather-proof protection. While not suitable for long-term outdoor exposure or submerging underwater, it is perfect for outdoor projects such as costumes, bike lighting, and festival decorations. Additionally, the adhesive backing allows for customizable installation options.
You'll get a 1-meter-long strip with two wires: black and red. Provide 3V at 220mA (bright) to 5V at 1.3A (very bright!), and the strip starts to glow.
Note these are not 'NeoPixel' LED strips; you cannot turn individual LEDs on or off. .
